Dilip has brought laurels to the country with his batting exploits and he holds the record of scoring 3 consecutive centuries at Lords and MCC has honoured Dilip by naming a suite after him at Lords. According to Delloit rating, he was ranked the number one batsman in the world for a period of three years from 1986-1988. |

Dilip Vengsarkar after his retirement has taken upon himself the mantle of producing quality cricketers. He set up the ELF - Vengsarkar Cricket Academy at Oval and at Mahul where boys are given free cricket coaching round the year and it is one of the best centres in India. As many as seven current players from his Academy are representing Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy.
