He has been compiling cricket statistics since 1957 and during the last 50 years has compiled almost every record of Test Cricket matches played since 1876-77, one-day internationals played since 1970-71 and domestic cricket in India since its inception in 1892. He possesses scorecards of almost 8000 cricket matches from which he has compiled all his records (spread in about 150 files, registers and bound books in handwritten and computerized sheets), which are of immense help to a variety of cricket enthusiasts like cricketers, umpires, administrators, journalists, government officials, and all others in a variety of ways.

He has been Hon Statistician with the Board of Control for Cricket in India from 1984-85 to 1990-91 and again since 2002-03 till date. He has also edited/compiled 13 Statistical Annuals for BCCI during this period. Seven voluminous books on domestic cricket were compiled and edited by him, on behalf of the BCCI.
He has been serving Mumbai Cricket Association as their Hon Statistician since 1974-75.
He has assisted radio/television cricket commentators, in his capacity as a cricket statistician at the time of 140 live Tests, one-day internationals all over the world and domestic first class cricket matches of the Ranji Trophy, Duleep Trophy and Irani Cup tournaments in India since 1973.
He has been regularly contributing articles on cricket records and statistics in various national and international newspapers, periodicals and websites.
Production of a film on Vinoo Mankad was entirely based on the book written by him on the cricketer. The book also won a prize in the second national competition of published literature on sports and games, organized by the Ministry of Education, Government of India in 1972.
Thane Municipal Corporation felicitated him with the highest honour of "THANE BHUSHAN" (pride of Thane) in 1999.
