The History of the Times Cricket Shield has been full of excitement and glory. Besides being the oldest and largest corporate tournament in the whole of Asia, it is the most enjoyable cricketing event for inter-offices. It had its beginning in the year 1930 with just 1 division and 20 teams. Now it has grown to 6 divisions with 152 teams.
 
From a week-end pass time so favorites in the 1930s and 1940s, with great cricketer like Vijay Merchant, Vinoo Mankad, Polly Umigar, G.S. Ramchand, Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, Ajit Wadekar, Sunil Gavaskar, G.R. Vishwanath, Sandeep Patil, Dilip Vengasarkar, Ravi Shastri, Sachin Tendulkar, Saurav Ganguly, Zahir Khan etc having participated over the past 78 years The Times Cricket Shield has been one of the most favorite office cricket tournaments. It has been flourishing well with participation from the leading corporate houses in Mumbai.
 
THE TIMES CRICKET SHIELD stands today as a highly respected nurturing ground for many cricketers. It is known for sheer competitive cricket, professional approach to the game, perfecting techniques, producing talnted cricketers promising to perform well in the highest class of national and international tournaments. At the end of the tournaments the Annual Prize Distribution function organized in a grand manner, concludes the season.
